"Mutual Link", it is safety system isn't it ? ／ もしクルマのシステムが突然止まったら？？？

As you know, recent car has comlicated network system for mutual control by themselves. In particular, engine management, brake control with G-force sensor, speed and gear management based on GPS navigation.... The list goes on and on. Therefore, the car management system is required high acuracy and high reliability. this approach is based on the risk-based approach for saving a life not only driver also passer. In other words, because of this strong and stable management system, we can drive anywhere at wase.

Of course, Lexus has also advanced car management network. However, if the some of management system is suddenly down when you are driving, what do you do ?

Yestarday, the computer system of my GS was suddenly stopped except for engine management for any reason.

When I was driving the open road after exiting the highway, the audio was stopped. After that, the navigation system freezed. Finally, I could not do any operation of G-Link, adjust the air conditioner and so on.

Normally, mostly people will panic. I could check the system calmly. I was really sad that I am a IT engineer. Sometimes, I want to panic in such as this situation.
Since the engine was still alive, I tried to recover the system. But nothing happened.
Though, master reset is needed to recover this incident, the system is automatically rebooted and it got back to normal.

This incident is an evidence that Lexus car management system has fail safe structure. Maybe I might have an accident if the amenity system is directly linked with the engine management system.
To avoid any accident due to the system down, this system has advanced mutual control for each management system. I really think this car is one of best buy for me.

I guess any information about this incident is not saving the logging system, but I will ask the service support to check the system at near future.

皆さんご存じのとおり、最近の車はとても複雑な制御システムを持っています。たとえば、エンジン制御、横方向のGに連動したブレーキ制御とか、ナビゲーション情報に基づくスピードとギアの制御とか・・・・・とにかく数えるとキリがありません。だから、車の制御システムには高精度な制御と高い信頼性が求められるのです。これって、人命（と言っても、ドライバーだけじゃなくて通行人に対してもですよ。）を守る為のリスクベースアプローチですね。言い換えれば、こういう強固かつ安定したシステムだからこそ、我々はいつでも安心して運転できる訳です。

もちろん、レクサスだってとても優秀な制御システムを持ってると思います（と言うか、間違いなく持ってる。）　でも、もしシステムの一部が運転中に突然ダウンしたら、あなたならどうします？？？

実は昨日、何らかの理由で運転中にシステムが落ちたんですよ、エンジン制御を除いて。。。

第三京浜を降りて一般道へ出たところで、突然それまで鳴っていたオーディオが止まって、続いてナビゲーションがフリーズ、しまいにはG-Linkの操作やエアコンの操作など一切の操作を受け付けなくなりました。

普通、大抵の人はここでパニックになるはずなんですが、なぜか僕は冷静にチェックしてるんですよね。後ろからどんどんクルマが来てると言うのに。こういう時って、自分がIT技術者である事を、すこし悲しく思ってしまいます。不謹慎ですが、たまにはパニックになってみたいです。
で、エンジンは生きているので、とにかくシステムを復旧させようと色々と試してみました。でも結局は何も起きませんでした。
いよいよ諦めて、こりゃマスターリセットかなぁと（ここがIT屋さんの発想ですね・・・・・はぁ。）思った矢先に、自動で再起動して元の正常な状態に戻りました。

まぁ、こういう事って本当はあってはならない事なんですが、図らずもレクサスの高度な制御システムに助けられた形ですね。もし、ナビやエアコンなどのアメニティシステムが、ダイレクトにエンジン制御システムとリンクして、一緒に落ちていたら、ひょっとしたら交通事故を起こしていたかも知れません。高度なフェールセーフ機能によって、エンジンは生きていたので、退避できた訳です。
システムエラーによるあらゆるアクシデントを排除する為に、このシステムは相互に高度な制御を行ってるんですね。この時ばかりは、本当にこの車を買ってよかったなぁと思いました。

おそらく、ログには何も残ってないと思いますが、念のために、近々サービスに確認をお願いするでしょう。ついでに、オイル交換も。
